YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

During your first appointment, we will first spend time reviewing your accident and your symptoms so that I can best understand what you are experiencing and how to help. Then I’ll step out while you get settled in under the sheets.

The dress code is up to you. Most people stay in their underclothes (although bras are typically removed). Occasionally, some folks might wear more or might wear less. Your private areas are never exposed, but dress to whatever your comfort level is, and I’ll adapt to you.

During the session, I may ask questions if I need feedback. Other than that, some people prefer to chat during their treatment, some fall asleep, and others simply relax. Please do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

continued treatments

As you progress, my pressure will increase to tolerance, and my techniques may change depending on what you need. Techniques may include deep tissue, hot stones, or other modalities to get you through the middle and end stages of treatment. I keep detailed chart notes of your treatment to track your progress, observe what techniques are most effective, and look for patterns throughout the course of treatment.

During any appointment, I consider the topics of politics, sex, religion, and money out of bounds. I find it can be distracting for me and for massage recipients, and they aren’t generally topics that promote well-being.

special note

While the injuries that I treat are physical, I understand that auto accidents can cause emotional and sometimes traumatic injuries as well. It is important that you know that processing emotions can be a natural response to treatment, and it is perfectly okay if you need to cry or vent. While I cannot give advice and am not a psychologist, your process is welcome here. Keep in mind that ultimately, the control is yours. You can always, always ask me to stop treatment or to back off of pressure, or change my approach. If you express concerns about PTSD from your accident, I may provide you with a few references for treatment, but in no way does that mean that you need to stop processing with me. I only want to give you as many resources as you may want to recover fully.
