what kind of techniques do you use?
The techniques that I use vary depending on what phase of healing you are in. During the early stages of recovery, lighter work may be recommended, but this is not always the case. I frequently give Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments (which is like acupuncture without needles) and lymphatic drainage massage during this stage to decrease swelling. This is also the time where I will most likely apply enzyme treatments to speed up recovery.
In the middle stage of healing, my pressure will often increase. We need to re-evaluate each treatment what does and does not work for you as your activities increase. If your fascia is tight, cupping may be the best technique for you.
The final stage of treatment may include hot stones, deep tissue, and heat. The level of depth I provide varies to tolerance. I am capable of applying quite deep pressure, however, that’s not always appropriate for each person. Throughout your treatments, we work together to establish what is best for you.
WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU TREAT?
The most common conditions that I treat include whiplash, sciatica, low back pain, headaches, shoulder pain, and hip to leg conditions. Other benefits of massage, though not addressed directly, include lessening of depression and anxiety, decrease high blood pressure, improved sleep, and boosted immunity.
can i receive treatment when i am sick?
Unfortunately, no. When your body is working to fight off an illness, the last thing it needs is more recovery work to do. When you are sick, please cancel your appointment. Even if it is not within 48 hours, you will still not receive a cancellation fee.
do you accept health insurance?
Unfortunately, I only work with auto insurance companies at this time. I recommend going to your insurance website to find an in-network practitioner for your health insurance.
how do i prepare for in-home visits?
It’s best if we can work in a room with some space. We need room both for the massage table, and for me to walk around it. I may arrive a few minutes early to get my table set up, so be sure to prepare so you have as few disruptions as possible. This might include taking care of your kids’ pets’ needs prior to my arrival, turning off your phone (unless you prefer it on), and getting into comfortable clothing. If you have music that you prefer, it may save some time if you have that started, although I am happy to supply music as well.
how does my insurance coverage work?
I interact directly with your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) case agent or your attorney so that you can just focus on healing. PIP is coverage that you most likely already have. Here are a few helpful things to know about using your benefits:
Opening a PIP claim can not legally affect the price of your insurance costs (in WA state), whether the accident was your fault or not.
There is no deductible or co-pay on PIP.
You probably have PIP if you are insured through WA state unless you signed away your coverage. Even then, the burden of proof that you signed coverage away is on your insurance, so they must be able to provide that in order to avoid paying your medical bills.
If you are in a third-party case and have an attorney, I may be able to treat you. Feel free to call for more details.
